Hi, I’m Emily
Animal caretaker, flower sniffer, paint eater, proud mom of two grown sons, and as of 2025, officially a Meemaw to my first grandson. 💛
I live on a slightly chaotic little farm with my husband, Paul, seven indoor cats, a pair of ponies who need daily meds, one sassy but sweet miniature horse, and a flock of chickens.
It’s not fancy, but it’s colorful, full of love, and very me.
By the age of 21, I had two kids, a husband, and a this home on six acres.
I was a stay-at-home mom throughout my boys’ childhood, but as they reached middle school, I began working in elementary education as a childhood assistant and testing proctor and later spent a short time working in a veterinary hospital while studying animal care.
My path has never been traditional, but it’s always been full of creativity, critters, and color.
I’ve always loved being hands-on, whether it’s building something from scrap wood, planting butterfly gardens, doing farm chores, taking on a DIY home project, or painting in my little art space.
I don’t always think of myself as an artist because I’m self-taught, but then again, some of the best artists are.
I started sharing my paintings in 2020, and what began as a quiet hobby slowly turned into something more.
The first painting I ever sold to a stranger covered a six-month supply of medication for my pony, Shiloh.
That moment showed me that creativity could be more than just personal expression; it could help me cover some of my extra farm expenses in small but meaningful ways.
Since then, I’ve sold paintings to supporters across the U.S., participated in both juried and non-juried art events, shared work through a local garden boutique, and expanded my designs into journals, planners, notebooks, and coloring books, all created by me and inspired by farm life and imagination.
In 2025, I chose to simplify.
I closed my old website and moved everything here to Blogger, where I can share freely without monthly fees or complicated platforms.
Realistically, the only thing that’s changed is the URL, it now includes “blogger” (farmdustandpaint.blogger.com).
Plus, it’s saved me a ton of time because I don’t have all those plugins and widgets to deal with anymore.
So, if you ever want to try blogging, you can still do it for FREE, just like I’ve decided to do with my own platform.
And hey, my blog still works just fine… you’re here, aren’t you?
I’ve stepped away from most affiliate programs and now only partner with Amazon, where I publish my books and occasionally share links that help support this blog.

And while Etsy does take a fee, it helps keep me organized, so when original paintings are available, you’ll now find them there.
I don’t run a big business, and with the rise of AI, I’m not trying to.
I just love making things, from paintings and books to blog posts and flower beds.
Whether I’m creating a new painting, illustrating pages for a journal, editing a notebook cover, planting flowers, caring for my animals, or dreaming up a new DIY project around the house, it all adds up to something that feels creative, joyful, and real.
When you shop my paintings, journals, or books, you’re not just buying art or supporting me, you’re supporting the dreams of small creators everywhere, and that means the world to me.
Even if you’re simply browsing the blog or clicking my Amazon links, every bit helps keep creativity alive.
Thank you so much for being here.
Whether you’re here to browse, read, shop, or just slow down, welcome.
I’m truly glad you stopped by.
XOXO
Emily
