Quick Farm Tour: Meet the Crew

Welcome to our little corner of the world, full of paint splatters, pink barns, poop pickin’, vet calls, and a whole lot of cat hair.

This isn’t a picture-perfect little farm.

It’s a small, slightly chaotic farm filled with personality and a whole lot of maintenance.

There are litter boxes to scoop (seven cats’ worth), meds to track and prescribe, feed to haul, coops to scrub, monthly farrier visits to schedule, and more messes than I could ever photograph.

Some days feel like a never-ending to-do list.

Every animal here is family, loved, spoiled, and part of the everyday magic that inspires what I create.

But don’t let the colorful paint and fun vibes fool you, real farm life is full of messes, exhaustion, and unglamorous moments.

There are vet bills and feed costs, middle-of-the-night storms, barn chores in every season, coop scrubbing, stall washing, bum baths, and the occasional frantic call to the vet.

Most of that doesn’t make it into the photos, but it’s all part of the deal.

It’s a labor of love, one built on daily care and hands-on work, but also full of small, quiet rewards that make it all worth it.

It’s the peaceful afternoons when I have time to slip a flower crown on a pony and snap a photo.

It’s the evening walks on the trails with our mini horse, just breathing in the quiet.

It’s collecting fresh eggs, hearing chickens gossip in the coop, or laughing as the cats chase bugs in the catio.

It’s unboxing a silly new toy I found online just to watch them bat it around like it’s Christmas morning.

So if it looks peaceful here, it often is… just with a whole lot of daily work behind the scenes.

And the crew behind it all?

Here they are:

The Equine Trio

Mixie, Cedar, and Shiloh, our two ponies and one miniature horse live in a pink barn, require extra care, and lots of nose kisses.

They’re gentle souls with big opinions and a love snack time.

You can learn more about the equine and layout in the following posts:

The Chicken Flock

Our chickens live in a pastel pink coop and spend their days foraging, laying eggs, and chasing bugs.

We keep a colorful mix of breeds including Light Brahmas, Welsummers, Whiting True Blues, Blue Cochins, Sussex, Ameraucanas, and Silkies, each one with their own quirks and favorite dust bath spot.

They’re funny, feathered, and part of the daily rhythm around here.

You can get a glimpse of each one of my chickens and take a better look at the coop in the following post:

The Cats

All seven of our cats live indoors, with access to a large playroom and a big 10×20 catio.

They spend their time napping, watching wild rabbits, and occasionally causing a bit of chaos.

All seven of our cats live indoors, with access to a large playroom and a big 10×20 catio.

They spend their days napping in cozy corners, watching wild rabbits from the windows, and occasionally causing a bit of chaos.

Macho Man, May-May, Huey, Dewey, Teddy, Panda, and Dell definitely run the house.

You can learn more about how we ended up with all these cats and see more photos of the playroom and catio in the following posts:

And besides the farm animals, we’ve also got the flower garden… and an adorable grandbaby we can’t wait to load up on a Gator power wheel to help with all these farm chores!
